She trained in San Francisco with several voice teachers and conservatory-affiliated instructors, at a time when others seemed to recognize the path ahead of her before she did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Silvina remembers it in a particular way: she was not the one who first chose classical singing; she felt that classical singing chose her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dance, movement, and acting had come first. Then came the discovery of a voice capable of entering another territory. But alongside her training, a question emerged that would prove decisive: did she have to remain within a single way of singing?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At a voice symposium, she heard an idea that stayed with her: singers could be the architects and engineers of their own voices. For Silvina, who was beginning to feel confined within a single style, that phrase opened a door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When Applause Was No Longer Enough<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1996, one of those moments arrived that, seen from the future, seems to mark the end of an era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Silvina had been invited to perform in a summer concert series in Italy, where she gave what she remembers as her final classical recital. The performance ended, the applause came\u2014and so did an unexpected feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Something was missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was not a matter of singing better or receiving more recognition. The question came after the applause: what now?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When she returned to the United States, she felt that the identity as a singer she had built over the years was beginning to dissolve. It was an uncomfortable period. The familiar structure\u2014the stage, performance, the idea of who a singer was supposed to be\u2014no longer seemed sufficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That break did not mean abandoning the voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It meant beginning to listen to it differently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Voice, Sound, and the Inner Search<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Silvina then began exploring sound from a broader perspective, alongside practices of expanded consciousness and inner inquiry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In her telling, that process began to dismantle personal and artistic structures. Singing was no longer associated only with performance; it also became a form of exploration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dimensions that had once seemed separate began to meet there: the artist and the seeker; the trained voice and the spontaneous voice; expression and listening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Silvina has historically described that encounter as a fusion of singing and sound healing. That language belongs to her journey and to the tradition within which she developed much of her work. In practice, she became especially interested in making the experience of sound independent of having a \u201cbeautiful voice\u201d or being a professional singer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The voice could also be breath, presence, emotion, vibration, intention, and a way of relating to what was happening within.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Listening Before Expressing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That artistic transformation also began to change the way Silvina understood success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Throughout the interview, she returns again and again to the same direction: expressing something true rather than simply adapting to what the outside world expects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For her, the question is no longer who measures success, but something else: is there joy? Is there truth? Does what I am expressing genuinely come from me?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That idea runs through much of the work she would later develop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Listen first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Listen to the body. The voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And from there, allow a personal form of expression to emerge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is not about rejecting technique\u2014Silvina comes from years of vocal training\u2014but about ensuring that technique does not replace the person who sings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">One Early Morning, Beethoven, and a Voice That Appeared<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the memories shared in the interview is a story that would later become an important part of her work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One night, Silvina fell asleep while listening to music. Around three in the morning, she woke as Beethoven\u2019s Moonlight Sonata was playing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Something in that music made her get up and begin to sing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She felt she needed to record it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Silvina interprets that experience through her own spiritual language: as a moment of connection with something beyond everyday routine, an invitation to pause, breathe, listen to the soul, and remember our connection with others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We do not need to turn that experience into a scientific explanation to understand its importance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is part of the way Silvina has experienced music: as art, but also as a space for listening, intuition, and meaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That experience would give rise to the story connected with Moonlight Sonata in the Woods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Transmutation: Transformation as a Process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conversation also offers a deeper understanding of another name central to her journey: Transmutation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Silvina explicitly connects it with alchemy and transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here, alchemy does not appear only as a spiritual concept. It can also be read as a metaphor for her own story: an artistic identity that changes form without disappearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The classical singer was not erased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was transformed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her training, voice, movement, inner search, meditation, and approach to sound gradually found a different way to coexist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That journey would come to define an important part of Silvina\u2019s creative territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Touching Another Heart Begins with Being in Touch with Your Own<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Toward the end of the interview comes perhaps the idea that best summarizes the entire conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After one of her concerts, several people approached her, moved and with tears in their eyes.
